Did you know that...
... the water town of Bressanone/Brixen has more than 20 drinking water fountains in the old town and almost 50 in Bressanone/Brixen and the surrounding villages?
The Eisack and Rienz rivers meet here. As early as the beginning of the 16th century, the locals drew their drinking and industrial water from the Eisack. The first springs were soon discovered in Vahrn and on the Plose.
The 48 fountains in Brixen make the town an open-air museum of water. One of the smaller and more modern Brixen fountains is hidden under the Nepomuk arch in the Adlerbrückengasse in Brixen. The washerwomen's staircase once led down to the Eisack at this very spot under the arch.
Where the women of Bressanone used to clean their laundry, you can now fill your water bottle with healthy drinking water.

Plastic-free travel in Bressanone/Brixen
Mountains, forests, rivers - Bressanone/Brixen is surrounded by nature. We want to protect these places of power.
Sustainable use of resources such as water is essential for this. Why carry plastic bottles of water up the Plose when there is a natural spring there?
Even small changes protect the environment. That's why you can fill precious drinking water into a reusable bottle throughout Bressanone/Brixen, in the surrounding villages and on the mountain - for example in the elegant stainless steel bottle with the Bressanone/Brixen logo. The “Refill your bottle” campaign is a step towards our sustainable future:
All huts on the Plose do not use single-use plastic and the drinking water fountains are marked on the mountain and in the town.
Fresh drinking water to go - the bottles are available at the Tourist Info Brixen.
